Getting Involved
Our role is to ensure that local people's vision for the future of their town becomes a reality. We can only do this if we know what local people want and need. We also aim to be fully accountable to the community we serve.
Local people are able to see and hear at first hand how decisions are made by the Harlow 2020 Local Strategic Partnership as all Board meetings are now open to the public.
Jackie Sully took up the position of Partnership Chair in September 2007. She explains the thinking behind the move: "Harlow 2020 takes very important decisions that can have a major impact on life in our town. We regularly ask local people for their views on how Harlow should develop in years to come and it is only right that they should be able to see how we are working. Everything should be completely transparent and open".

The Partnership Board meets four times a year. The first meeting to open to local people took place on Friday 7th March 2008 and was attended by many members of the public, including representatives from local organisations.
Board meetings take place four times a year. All meetings begin at 10.00 a.m. and take place in the Civic Centre, The Water Gardens, Harlow. Refreshments are available from 9.45 a.m.
Dates of meetings, agendas and minutes are available from the Harlow District Council website (www.harlow.gov.uk; clicking this link will open the site in a new browser window) the Monday before each meeting, or on request. Dates of meetings are also posted on some community notice boards in Harlow.
Harlow 2020 also holds special events, at least annually, to give members of the public and local stakeholders the opportunity to come together, discuss local issues, find out what is being done to address these issues and give ideas of their own.
Notice of these events will appear on the Harlow District Council website (www.harlow.gov.uk; that clicking this link will open the site in a new browser window) and in the Harlow Times.
